Asteroid Toutatis, a frequent visitor in our neighborhood, will pass as close as 1.5 million km to the Earth on Wednesday. As spacerocks go, Toutatis is pretty big; it's 5 km long and weighs 2.5 billion kg - an asteroid this size was thought to have wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. Although there are plenty of doomsayers predicting the Earth's demise, Toutatis will keep its distance, passing four times as far as the Moon. - Universe Today
Anyone who manages to see Toutatis tonight kindly please alert me.
Wonder how they manage to come up with all sorts of wierd names for all these "heavenly bodies". Hope it wasn't named after its discoverer because "Toutatis" seems pretty unusual, to put it nicely, for a person's name. Still, I guess its not as bad as "ji wei" is it? Will put in the chinese words once I figure out how to input chinese in firefox.
Well, I wouldn't have to wonder too much should the asteriod indeed crash into the Earth today. In case it does, just like to say : nice meeting all of you.
By the way, could the bastard that stole the past year Chem S Prelims own up? Just remember, you'll never see the daylight again once I find out who you are. You'd better check everywhere before you sleep in case I plant a nuclear bomb right under you nose.
