Just three days ago, on the first day of the March school holidays, the TTC had another of their meal gatherings. It's fast becoming our way of keeping in contact with each other, since school has been out for most of us for a few years now. And excuses to meet up have been few and far between. The last one, probably was the sending off of GW and even that was poorly attended. This time though, attendance was pretty decent and would have been better if not for the fact one fell ill the day before and another, couldn't really wake up on time.
We arrived at the restaurant a little after 3 PM but no one bothered with us for a good few minutes. It wasn't because of the crowd because there was none to speak of. It wasn't because there was a shortage of staff because there were many idling waitresses to speak of. A friend, later during the meal, astutely remarked that we didn't look the image of wealth and hence have no one to blame but ourselves. Well, where has professionalism gone to these days? Hmmm. Then again, I think the next gathering I organize, might well be a shopping trip to Paragon.
The thing about have buffets is it kind of forces you to gobble up as much food as possible. And boy did we obliged. We did sampled every thing the menu had to offer and I was a little disappointed that the variety wasn't as wide as previously expected. Nonetheless the food was good and pigging out on dim sum can hardly feel wrong. For information on the food, you can just easily look up Tung Lok's China Square outlet and scroll to the high tea buffet menu.
Conversation flowed freely, with the usual ribbing of NAVI and Tb up to his usual antics. For the record, Tb brought us many a type of baos just to let us have a taste. We ended up having to struggle to finish the food he brought although part of me just wanted to shaft everything down his throat. Oh when will he ever wise up? And in true Tb fashion, he left as abruptly as the little gems of rubbish he sprouts from time to time. The latest indignity I suffered was his reply to my question of whether he was still playing his online RPG. "You going medical checkup meh?" Complete with wide eye blinking and innocent tone, it's more than sufficient to get me riled.
After the meal, NAVI and Tb left while EdDIE, Ao and I decided to bum around town. Wandering from Chinatown to City Hall, destiny had it that we ended up LAN-ing, again, at Paradiz. What can a couple of bored people do except blast themselves mindless with rounds of CS? The blasting wasn't particularly great that night and we adjourned to Plaza Singapura for coffee. Lots of NSF around that place on a Saturday, all eagerly trading their stories from BMT.
We, I was like that too.
Once upon a time, long long ago.
And we parted ways, one to the west, the other to the east. And the last one, not surprisingly, on a direct bus home.
